Won't You be my Neighbor?

Ohhh it's cold in my apartment. Jordan and I haven't turned on the heat yet, which is fine for most days, but there are occasions of severe chiliness- like the other morning when I woke up and it was 61 degrees- brrrrr! I'm about to take a quick work break to make something to eat. I am really craving some vegetables- I just feel like I havn't gotten my even-close-to adequate amount lately. With us preparing to move soon, I haven't exactly been planning and cooking regular meals, so I'm sure that's why I feel the way I do. Craving Chili's con queso doesn't help either....I had a MAJOR craving for it last night on the way home from the mission's conference, and my dear husband was good enough to stop and let me get some. So bad, but so good! (thanks Dad- I inherited that love from you!)

The conference was GREAT last night. The focus was on "neighbors" and they did this whole video/skit thing with one of the men in our church playing Mr. Rogers- and man, did he do a good job! I seriously wish I had a picture, he played the part SO well. The premise of the video was him riding his bike (old-skool, red, total Mr. Rogers's style) around Franklin and stopping at the different ministries that New Song supports in our "Neighborhood." Things like "Against the Grain," a place where single mother's can go to get practical, relational, emotional and spiritual needs met, "Feed Franklin First," a ministry to hungry people in Franklin, "Provision Ministries," a multi-faceted ministry in downtown Nashville, and "Mercy Children's Clinic" in Franklin. We had all of the leader's of the minstries with us, and they shared for a moment on their current needs- financially, physically and in prayer. We had the opportunity to connect with them and find out more about how we could be a part of it. Tomorrow night is the next night of the conference, with Sunday being the final session.

I think I may have finally found the right green to paint in our bedroom. Green is tough! The first one was too light, the second one too bright, but I think the third might be just right! (wasn't that cute? :-) I have one coat down on my "test board"...I'll be sure to let you know how it turns out.

Okay- broccoli time and then back to work!

Oh and yes, Nathan- Jordan did shave his gotee. He just got it in his head on Saturday and did it, although he hasn't shaved it since then- I think he's still trying to decide what he likes the best.
